Editing Services

You write to communicate to the hearts and minds of others what’s burning inside you, and we edit to let the fire show through the smoke.
— Arthur Plotnik

Editing is expensive! We get it. Two Girls, One Book Editing is dedicated to providing indie authors affordable editing options. We understand that every situation is unique, so we strive to meet everyone’s budget constraints within reason.

Because indie authoring is hard, we do offer affordable pricing and lower price points for repeat clients. We will also consider payment plans and budget constraints on a case-by-case basis. We currently accept Venmo, Velle, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal.

To secure a job, we request a writing sample and 50% deposit.

We are currently only accepting manuscripts from the romance genre, including contemporary, paranormal, romantasy, and every sub-genre in between. Open and closed door romances are welcome.

If you’re interested, please fill out the contact form below and be as specific as possible so that we understand your needs.

Once we establish a timeline and agree on payment, we will send you an introduction email detailing what to expect from the editing process.

Developmental Editing

This is the most in-depth and comprehensive edit. We will take a deep dive into your story arc, character development, plot, setting, flow, consistency, and clarity. This requires a two-to-three week turnaround per round depending on word count. We normally perform two rounds of edits.

Line Editing

This edit will check tone, style, and consistency in your manuscript. We will work on honing sentence structure and developing the mood. We want your story to have a coherent and consistent style. This requires a ten-day turn around.

Copy Editing

This is a basic edit for grammar, spelling, and punctuation. This requires a seven-day turnaround.

About the Editors

Sara

Sara is an experienced writer and editor. With more than 15 years in the field, she’s worked as a journalist, a communications specialist, and a copy editor. Sara has a BA in English, journalism, and technical writing, and an MA in English, specializing in composition and rhetoric.

Laura

Laura has a BA in English and journalism and has publications in numerous newspapers and magazines. She worked in the Writing Lab throughout college and served as the assistant editor for TEMPO, Coastal Carolina University’s student-led magazine.

Sara and Laura have had the honor of providing beta reader feedback on several contemporary romance novels, and both are avid readers of that same genre.

Having two book editors provides a broad range of perspectives, reduces biases, improves the overall quality of the manuscript and can potentially lead to a more efficient and creative editing process.
